CCMAU commentary on 2006/07 performance

ESR recorded a 12.1% increase in operating revenue, which was ahead of budget by $393,000.  This resulted in a year-end net profit after tax of $3.7 million, $786,000 ahead of budget, with a return on equity of 14.4% for 2006/07.

The continued financial success of ESR over the last couple of years has enabled the company to make strategic investments.  During 2006/07, the company launched SurvINZ, a state-of-the-art surveillance platform for infectious diseases.  Additionally, building work on ESR’s laboratories for the National Centre for Biosecurity and Infectious Disease started in June 2007 with completion expected in early 2008.
